FAQS
1. How do I make an appointment?
To get started, please contact me at 253-655-4494 or [email protected] to schedule a brief consultation. During our chat, we’ll discuss your concerns and decide if an occupational therapy evaluation is the right fit for your child. If so, I’ll send you the necessary intake paperwork and an evaluation will be scheduled at your child’s school.
2. What is occupational therapy?
Occupational therapy helps children build the skills they need to participate fully in their daily activities, leading to greater independence and a better quality of life. Think of a child’s “occupations” as the main things they do each day, which are playing and learning.
At School Kids OT, we specialize in supporting the development of fine motor and visual motor skills. These skills are essential for building a strong foundation for play, writing, and successful participation in the classroom.
For children experiencing sensory processing, attention, organization or self-regulation challenges, I provide the child with practical strategies such as movement breaks, calming techniques, and visual supports to help them navigate daily routines and successful transitions at school. Through collaboration with their teacher, I help embed these strategies into the school day for consistent and effective support.
3. What are signs my child may benefit from OT?
- Is your child over the age of 3 and still using a fisted grasp to hold a crayon and marker?
- Does your child have an awkward grasp that is causing their hand to get tired easily?
- Does your child have trouble coordinating their hands for tasks like cutting?
- Does your child avoid fine motor or writing tasks?
- Is their handwriting messy or hard to read?
- Do you feel your child is falling behind in fine motor skills compared to peers?
- Does your child have big reactions to changes or transitions?
- Does your child struggle with classroom routines or following directions?
- Does your child struggle with organization where it is affecting their participation in the classroom?
If you answered yes to any of these, occupational therapy might help! Please schedule a free consultation here to see how I can support your child.

4. Do you accept insurance?
In-Network: We are an in-network provider with Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) plans, including Premera and beginning October 15th, 2025 Regence and Anthem.
Out-of-Network & Private Pay: For all other insurance plans, we are considered an out-of-network provider. However, we can provide you with a superbill upon request for potential reimbursement from your insurance provider. We recommend you contact your insurance provider to determine reimbursement rates for out-of-network OT services.
We accept credit card, cash, check, FSA and HSA.
5. What questions should I ask my insurance company if I’m interested in superbill reimbursement?
- Does my plan cover out-of-network occupational therapy services?
- What percentage of the cost will be reimbursed for out of network OT services?
- What is my out of network deductible and how much of it has already been met this year?
- Do I need pre-authorization or a referral for out of network services to qualify for reimbursement?
6. Do you provide services in public schools?
We do not provide services within the public school system, as there is already a support system in place. If you are seeking support in the public school system, contact the inclusive education or special education department in your district.
